CHICAGO – March 20, 2017– Performance Trust Capital Partners has hired Paul Stephens as a Director in the Investment Banking group. In this role, he will join Dan Bass in Houston, Texas, working with the institution’s clients across the country. The addition comes at a time when Performance Trust continues to grow its service offerings throughout the United States. Stephens, an industry veteran with more than 10 years of experience, will join the organization to focus on mergers and acquisitions for banks, thrifts, asset managers, and registered investment advisors.
While Stephens will be based out of Houston, he will work with institutions across the U.S. He will assist Performance Trust clients by utilizing his extensive background in M&A and capital raising.
Stephens said there were many factors that drew him to Performance Trust: “I knew Dan Bass and had worked with him in the past, which gave me greater insight into the caliber of the group at Performance Trust and the character of the team.” He also mentioned the importance of the clients to the firm as a factor to joining, “I had attended a Performance Trust University program and learned a great deal more about the organization and their methodology. Seeing how much the firm cares about their clients’ performance and overall well-being is what separates them from others in the industry. When the opportunity presented itself, I knew it was the right decision to join.”
Stephens said he was drawn to Performance Trust by its strong foundation, rapid growth, and unparalleled attention to client performance.
Dan Bass, Managing Director of Investment Banking, said, “Knowing Paul’s work ethic and superb understanding of the industry made him stand out. I’ve known Paul for years and have worked with him before. I know how much Paul cares about his clients and that he will fit in with the Performance Trust team and our current clients.”
Stephens earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas, Austin in 2006. After graduating, he joined Carson Medlin as an Analyst, later advancing to Associate. Before joining Performance Trust, Paul was a Senior Vice President at FBR Capital Markets, covering the Southwestern U.S. for the Financial Institutions Group within Investment Banking.
