THE BOND BUYER: Market casts a skeptical eye on Chicago mayor's fiscal confidence

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot thinks the city of Chicago is well situated to withstand the economic downturn COVID-19 might inflict, but investors don't share that same confidence. "We were already in a weakened position. This crisis will be a fiscal burden. How large a fiscal burden will be determined by the magnitude and duration of the quarantine", said Brian Battle, director of trading at Performance Trust Capital Partners in Chicago.
